What is your shipping policy?

All books will be shipped via US Postal Service (USPS).

US Media Mail Shipping is included for all US backers of physical tiers.

Shipping to locations outside the US is expensive and highly variable depending on the country. In addition, some countries add VAT or customs tax on arrival. To offer the most accurate shipping cost, international backers will be charged shipping separately via Backerkit before items are ready to ship.

I’ve done my best to provide a rough estimate of the shipping costs for backers in the most common countries, as of the time of writing this campaign, however this rate is likely to change between campaign close and actual shipment dates. Shipping will be charged at cost with no additional markup.

Canada: $20 for a single hardcover, $30 for a hardcover plus paperback UK: $25, $40 for a hardcover plus paperback Australia: $35 for a single hardcover, $55 for a hardcover plus paperback

Additional physical add-ons or multiple copies will have a higher shipping fee due to the heavier weight.

If your package is returned to me, and you don’t want to pay for a second delivery attempt, I can refund the price of your reward MINUS Stripe (credit card processing) fees and shipping fees. These fees can not be refunded as I’ve already paid for the first attempted delivery.

Do you collect sales tax or VAT?

I am a resident of and licensed in the state of California, therefore I am required to charge sales tax on physical goods shipped within the state. If your shipping address is in CA, Backerkit will add sales tax to your reward.

However, I am not licensed, and I will not collect any fees to pay import taxes or VAT. If your country charges customs fees, import taxes, or VAT you will pay them to the courier on delivery. As I understand it, these fees are assessed based on the value of your package, which I will list as the price of your physical items.

If you do not typically pay charges on packages shipped from outside of your country, you should be fine with books, but there are some countries that assess the taxes on any international shipment.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds minus Stripe (credit card processing) fees are available until items are delivered or surveys are locked, whichever comes first.

Digital rewards are not refundable after delivery to your account. This includes both Backerkit delivery for direct downloads, and ebooks delivered into your BookFunnel library.

Physical rewards are refundable minus the Stripe fees until surveys are locked.

You will receive a warning before surveys are locked. Once locked, your order is considered final and no further changes can be made. If you would like to make additional purchases after this time, email [email protected] with your request, or visit www.MeganHaskell.com for the online store.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
