Good News Alert!
As of this morning, payment has been made and the special editions are in the print queue!
Here are the final mockups of the books:
I literally spent hours lining up the shadow rose mandala from the end page to the color-sprayed edges of the books. There might be some minor slippage in printing, but it should be a near-perfect full wrap, inverted across the edges.
It's one of those little details that I get SUPER nerdy about.
(Like, seriously, I HATE when the pattern of the front pocket on a shirt isn't lined up with the rest of the shirt, or at least intentionally perpendicular or something. It's probably my undiagnosed OCD, but it's an immediate "won't buy" for me. Anyhoo...)
And as a reminder, I upgraded to the faux leather hard case AND we added a purple ribbon (not pictured), because I just couldn't resist.
I can't wait to see these beauties in real life!

Digital Downloads Are Waiting For You!
As of yesterday, all digital downloads have been distributed. (Does not include the group ask me anythings, obviously...I plan to host those after the books are in your greedy little hands.)
Here's where to find them:
Coloring Page & Digital Wallpaper - you can download these directly from your BackerKit account.
Just log in using the same email you used to complete your survey. Under your profile at the top right, click on "Your Surveys" then click on "The Last Descendant". From there, you should see a button that says "Get Your Digital Downloads" where you can find everything you need.
Ebooks and Audiobooks - Your books are waiting for you in your BookFunnel library. I have added your books to your BookFunnel account using the email you provided in your survey.
To access your books, go to https://my.bookfunnel.com or use the BookFunnel app on your phone. Make sure you log in to BookFunnel with the same email you gave me on your survey responses! (If you can't remember what email you gave me, you can access your survey answers in BackerKit, following the instructions above.) From there, you can read or listen in their app, or download to whatever device you like to use.
If you can't find your books:
- Check to make sure you're using the correct email address. Do you have two? Try the other one.
- Check to see what email you submitted in your survey. Is that the email you're using to log in to BookFunnel? If not, email me at [email protected] and I'll get the book to the correct address.
- If you still can't find your books, or if anything seems to be missing, email me at [email protected] and I'll get you sorted!
A Note on BackerKit Surveys
Most of you have already completed and submitted your BackerKit survey, so if that's you, disregard the rest of this message.
However, if you're still getting reminder emails to submit your survey, and you think you may have already answered the questions, the problem is likely that you didn't get all the way to the submit button at the end.
After answering the pledge questions, the survey automatically takes you to Add-Ons, but you don't have to add anythinig new to your cart. Just keep clicking next.
After the Add-Ons, you need to submit your address (if you purchased physical rewards), then confirm your survey and submit.
Without this final confirmation, I can't ship your rewards, and you won't be able to download the wallpaper or coloring page from your account.
(Books, however, have been added to BookFunnel libraries for everyone who paid via Kickstarter.)
One other note to be aware of: I am located in California, and as such, have to submit sales tax to the state for any purchases (deliveries) of physical books in the state. If you are also a California resident, BackerKit will charge that state sales tax to your account. I wish I didn't have to do that, but I could get in trouble if I don't.
If you're not in California, or only purchased digital rewards, you have no extra charges to worry about until we get closer to the shipping date, probably in August.

By now, you should have received your BackerKit survey for The Last Descendant Special Edition.
One question in the survey is especially critical to getting the special edition printed on time: What name would you like to have printed in the acknowledgments? (Or, opt-out).
Today is the last day to submit your response!
If you've already submitted your survey, Thank You!!
But, if you haven't, please take a quick minute to complete (or update) your information so I can finalize the interior formatting of the book.
Any surveys left unanswered will have their Kickstarter name in the acknowledgments.
If all goes well, I'll send the final files to the printer on Friday!

In other news, I just ordered the bookmarks this morning, so they're on their way! I'll update you with more details (and pics!) when they arrive.
And, if you or a friend missed the Kickstarter campaign, you can now preorder a special edition of your own. You won't be listed in the acknowledgments, but you'll still have a gorgeous book for your shelf. :-)

Finally! The two week waiting period is over!
Please check your email for a survey from BackerKit. The survey will gather the information I need to start putting the finishing touches on The Last Descendant Special Edition Hardcover.
Most Important!
If your reward included a copy of the special edition hardcover, I need you to tell me how (or if) you'd like to be included in the acknowledgments.
You have until Wednesday, May 15, to submit your name or opt-out!
Otherwise, I'll use your Kickstarter profile name.
I need to order the print run as soon as possible to get in the printing queue, and I can't do that until I finalize the interior, which I can't complete until I have your name.
My goal is to have the books in your hands before Christmas, if not much sooner!

We Funded!

It came down to the wire, but in the last five minutes of the campaign, an Angel Investor pushed us over the goal and carried The Last Descendant through the finish line.
I feel like one of those marathon stories, where the runner gets injured so a friend helps them finish the last 100 yards.
I'm in shock, and so very very thankful for everyone's support.
I might go cry a little, but now they'll be happy tears.
Sniff.
Okay, enough of that . . .
What Happens Next?
Over the next two week, Kickstarter will process the credit card charges. Meanwhile, I'll be working to set up my fulfillment in Backerkit and getting the final files ready for the printer.
As soon as Kickstarter deposits the money in my account, I will send out the backer survey from Backerkit.
Everyone who backed the special edition tiers gets their name in the acknowledgments. To get the books finished in a timely manner, please complete your survey within five days of receipt.
If you don't respond within five days, I will use your Kickstarter name for the acknowledgments section.
Don't worry though, I'll send out plenty of notice and reminders along the way.
I am so excited to be able to be able to hold this beautiful book in my hands!

We're 68% Funded!
As of this writing, we need at least $2201 to make the special edition a reality.
Remember, Kickstarter campaigns are all or nothing. That means if we don't reach the funding goal, the campaign is canceled. You don't get charged, I don't get paid, and the books don't get made.
Which would be heartbreaking.
I've done everything in my power to make this the most beautiful special edition possible. With a glossy custom illustrated dust jacket, faux leather hard case with metallic foil stamped design, custom end pages, custom stenciled edges, and a luxurious foil stamped bookmark to match, it's going to be a gorgeous collector's edition.
